Fast bikes and faster chicks

The weekend before last Richard and I caught a train down to Newark for the Sideburn Magazine sponsored Rollerburn event.  I have done some work for Sideburn in the past (some more here) and they had asked me to display some work in the mini exhibition as part of the event.  Plus, we were keen to see how the whole roller derby thing worked (I can confirm that after watching the hour (+) long game, we're still none the wiser.)

I decided to bring along some of the pieces from my collaboration with Katherine Beefheart.  Silly, I know, but I forgot to take a photo of everything hung up.  I think it was the smell of bacon that was seriously affecting my neurological abilities.

Anyways, here are some photos of the day.

Hotpants? Tights? Yeah. They are hot.

Check out the Davida helmets that were handmade especially for the event.

It was nice to meet some of the other artists involved with Sideburn.. all in all a good day!  (PS: Dear Brain: let's not discuss when you mentioned the idea of joining a roller derby club.  That was when you were being crazy and probably in a bacon trance. Remember that? Yeah. As a rule we should keep hips, arms and leg bones unshattered no matter how much a green leopardprint tights and hotpants combo rocks your world. Ok thanks.)

Two good things

I am so proud of my sister and her boyfriend, not only did they come second place in the E4 Estings competition but they've been featured in Creative Review this month!  Their animation, Mouse House is now playing on e4 and is the one on the top right on the page above.  You can visit their new website itsdeadgood and see their other animation work.

The other good thing is that one of my favourite little stockists has featured me on their blog and the words they wrote made me laugh out loud/feel incredibly flattered and loved.  Go check out Domestica online or better yet go to Des Moines, Iowa and visit the shop IRL!!

Good start to the week I'd say! x x

The inevitable has happened.

I may or may not have made a pug pillow that may or may not be for sale now in my etsy shop.  Don't all squeal at once though because the internet might explode.

Catchup/a lot of cake

October went something like this:

Uhh so I turned one year older which called for consumption of a lot of food in celebration: some delicious lamb burgers at the Cornerhouse, and some spicy breakfast eggs at Giraffe. In between, I received some super awesome birthday presents from my lovely family and got to open them all in bed with a cup of tea.

The mailman delivered some rad dino-stickers from my buddy Grace (from now on unless you're including dino stickers in my mail, I'm not reading it. This goes for you, Tesco Clubcard.)

I was also baked and presented with probably the best birthday cake in the history of the whole world by my brother's super awesome girlfriend Charlie.

Some serious time was also spent in TK Maxx contemplating gold shoes, cutlery and glass tumblers. (wish I'd gotten the shoes.)

Ate some more cake (can you see a theme happening here?) from Waitrose and some American Snacks which were given to me by my slightly mental friend Katherine Beefheart.

Wore my new skirt and got a super new stockist for my cards, manfriends, brooches and christmas fishes.

Ate quite a lot of lucky charms (part of the American Snack collection) and sewed quite a lot of pillows for orders whilst watching quite a lot of episodes of Made in Chelsea.

Spent some quality time with my favourite person. Visited with my family and his family and cooked some delicious beef.

Got my autumnal/holiday themed cards ready for November (head over to my vimeo page and check out my first video post!)

Took a few breaks in between painting a heck (and I mean a heck) of a lot of these:

And that's that. I think?

Oh I also visited my sensational sister and spent some time with her and her boyfriend, which was so nice. Got cooked some pretty darn tasty quesadillas and got to check out their newest animation. (If you ever watch e4 you might see their ident, it's called mousehouse and this is it.)

I'm off now to cook some veggie sausages and watch some crap on the tv. It's been a long day and I've got another long day tomorrow!

Thanks for reading, thanks for following, thanks for buying. Have a good evening chaps xxx
